3 Tips For Adding Color To Your Space
So many people want to know how to add color to their living space but they are concerned with adding too much color from one spot to the next. Sometimes it can be confusing deciding which color to put where. Here are three tips on how to add color to your space.
The first tip is to choose a color scheme. I like to use three colors because four colors in a room can feel overwhelming. Using analogous colors can be helpful. Analogous colors are the colors next to each other on the color wheel. For example, blue and violet are analogous colors. These colors can be used for family rooms and bedrooms. Another color scheme you can go for is the complementary color scheme. Complementary color scheme are the colors across from each other on the color wheel. For example, blue and yellow. This would look great in a dining room or living room.
The second tip is use the 60-30-10 with color. This is a great way to different colors. A way of using this is 60 % would be the most dominant color, 30% would be the secondary colors and 10% would be the accent color. So, in interior design terms 60% wall, 30% is upholstery and 10% could be the accessories in the room. This method can really help out when it comes to designing a room.
The third tip is using an accent wall or a contrast in a room. Using a color for the accent wall is grabs the attention of a person when they walk in to a room. For example, a bed or mantle on the fireplace. Painting these example a darker color than the rest of wall is more dominant than the rest of the room. Using this darker color make the person see what the person has on that mantel piece or maybe the bed spread in the bedroom. This can be done by using color swatches and picking the color for the rest of the walls and then picking the one that is two swatches darker.
Otherwise, I would love to help you with your color choices.
